Because I'm a show-off, I wanted somewhere to show my photographs in better quality than Facebook. A blog seems the way to go. I took this picture the other day in Kirkwall with my new camera. I thought it would be fun in this tourist heaven with all its famous sites and views – and its famous light that brings artists here to live – to take a photo of something distinctly un-touristy but still lit by that famous light. And it (the light, that is) was particularly brilliant as we walked to Tesco's.
This light was so remarkable, putting everything into such sharp focus, that I took a couple of architectural shots. I was trying out a new camera that I had just bought and this was my first day of getting the hang of it.
Anyway, I was quite pleased but have to get better.
